Zakaria Community Leader

Standing 9 meters high and 4 meters wide, the intricate mural was installed by Roccia, in collaboration with geometric design specialist Eric Broug. The inspiration for this design comes from the Saadian Tombs in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The masterpiece contains just under 4000 pieces, with 32 different shapes, 12 unique shapes and 19 different colours. Taking just over a year to complete, the finished mosaic was unveiled in the summer of 2019. This project has been a great addition to the community and the centre – being praised by many of its members, with visitors from all over the UK and beyond. This led to the work of art winning The National Tile Association award for ‘Best Small Commercial Project’ for 2019.

The Roccia family are all very proud of this project and the praise it has received. The unique sight is a must see and is very much worth the trip to Dewsbury.
